The Federal Government has allotted ₦24.85 trillion for debt payments and personnel expenses, including pensions and salaries, in the 2025 Appropriations Bill.
The report also revealed that government spending on salary payments alone will amount to N7.54 trillion, which is N2.75 trillion more than the N4.79 trillion paid to federal employees in 2024.
N24.85 trillion, or 53.98 per cent of the N46.02 trillion 2025 budget, is made up of the N8.52 trillion in staff and pension costs and the N16.33 trillion in debt service costs.
Additionally, it was noted that the government would spend more on debt repayment than on employee salaries and pensions.
