Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries Limited, has assured Nigerians that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has an ample supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to fully cater to the country’s fuel needs.
During a recent address, Dangote revealed that the refinery currently holds over half a billion litres of petroleum products, valued at more than ₦600 billion.
According to him, the facility is actively producing refined products—including petrol, diesel, and kerosene—to ensure that Nigeria’s fuel consumption demands are met 100%.
Speaking after a Zambian government delegation’s visit, led by Energy Minister Makozo Chikote, Dangote emphasized that the refinery’s impact extends beyond Nigeria.
He highlighted the project’s role in strengthening intra-African trade, particularly under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
“This refinery is not just for Nigeria; it serves Africa as a whole. We are committed to promoting trade across African nations,” Dangote stated.
Meanwhile, Zambia’s Energy Minister, Makozo Chikote, praised the refinery’s operations and its potential to enhance fuel supply efficiency across Africa. He noted that Zambia’s petroleum sector is fully private-driven, making investments like the Dangote Refinery a strategic solution to energy needs.
“We are prioritising competition among private sector players to improve productivity in mining, agriculture, and other industries. Dangote joining this space will bring quality, reliability, and efficiency,” Chikote remarked.
The minister further commended the refinery’s model, emphasizing how the inclusion of multiple players in Zambia’s energy sector has already improved the lives of citizens.
With its massive production capacity and a growing influence beyond Nigeria, the Dangote Refinery is poised to reshape Africa’s energy landscape, ensuring stable fuel supply and promoting economic growth across the continent.
