The Concerned Northern Lawyers Forum has issued a stern warning to take legal action against the Federal Government (FG), demanding substantial compensation for the victims of the Tudun Biri bombing caused by military airstrikes in Kaduna State. The bombing resulted in the tragic loss of over 120 villagers celebrating Maulud last Sunday night.
Barrister Nafi’u Abubakar, speaking on behalf of the Northern Lawyers Forum, asserted their commitment to ensuring justice for families who suffered irreparable losses in this unfortunate incident. Addressing the press in Kaduna on Saturday, Abubakar urged the FG to initiate an immediate and comprehensive independent investigation into the incident.
He emphasized the necessity of holding those responsible accountable for their actions and implementing measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. The Northern Lawyers Forum, comprising over 600 members, expressed deep condolences to the families affected by the tragic event.
Abubakar stated, “We stand united with them in their grief and pledge our unwavering support in ensuring justice is served. The Concerned Northern Lawyers Forum will work tirelessly to pursue legal means to claim the compensation that is owed to the victims.” Additionally, he called upon the Nigerian Army to reassess its rules of engagement and training procedures to prevent the loss of innocent lives during military operations, urging utmost caution to avoid collateral damage and civilian casualties.
