The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is set to relocate some of its departments to Lagos State, as part of an effort to decongest the apex bank’s head office.
An anonymous CBN official revealed that the move aims to enhance safety and increase productivity by consolidating departments that usually travel between locations. While some staff members resisted the transfer, claiming tribal sentiment as a motivation, the source emphasized the decision’s practicality.
The affected departments, including Banking Supervision, Other Financial Institutions Supervision, Consumer Protection, Payment System Management, and Financial Policy Regulations, will be relocated.
The official highlighted that the move is intended to boost productivity, cut costs, and ensure the safety of the affected staff. The current staff strength at the Abuja office surpasses its carrying capacity, posing a threat to facilities.
The decision reflects an organizational strategy to streamline operations and create a more efficient working environment for the staff involved.
