Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), underlined the bank’s commitment to enhancing economic cooperation between Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. According to a CBN statement issued yesterday, Mr. Cardoso made this assurance during a courtesy visit by Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Faisal bin Ibrahim Alghamdi.
During the meeting, Cardoso emphasised the CBN’s commitment to strengthening collaboration in critical sectors that fuel economic growth and development. “The Central Bank of Nigeria is still dedicated to promoting collaborations that would strengthen economic connections between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. “We will continue to look for opportunities that benefit both countries,” he said.
The CBN Governor promised that the bank is prepared to play an important role in encouraging collaboration, which would result in significant economic benefits for both nations. Ambassador Alghamdi responded by thanking the CBN Governor for his gracious reception and reiterating Saudi Arabia’s genuine desire in strengthening bilateral collaboration. He identified renewable energy, agriculture, and water connectivity as significant areas where the Kingdom wishes to engage with Nigeria.
“We are eager to strengthen our relationship with Nigeria and explore mutually beneficial opportunities that will contribute to the prosperity of both nations,” Alghamdi told the press. Mr. Cardoso also thanked the Saudi government for its hospitality at the recently concluded AIUla event, which was organised by the Saudi Ministry of Finance in partnership with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Regional Office in Riyadh. The summit represents a renewed commitment to strengthening the two countries’ economic connections, with a focus on strategic investments and trade collaborations.
