Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama have officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris‘s campaign for the presidency.
In a heartfelt one-minute video featuring a private phone call between the Obamas and Harris, the Vice President expressed her gratitude for their endorsement and longstanding friendship.
“We called to say Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office,” Obama told Harris.
Michelle Obama added, “I am proud of you. This is going to be historic.”
Obama shared on social media platform X, “Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend Kamala Harris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support.”
Harris responded warmly, saying, “Thank you both. It means so much. And we’re gonna have some fun with this too.”
Barack Obama, the first Black president of the United States, continues to be one of the Democratic Party’s most influential and admired figures more than a decade after his presidency.
Kamala Harris is expected to announce her running mate by August 7.
