Lagos State’s Akoka residents claim that even after moving to Band A, they only receive two hours of electricity.

On Tuesday, the locals protested the development in the streets and demanded that the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company save them.

“Akoka is completely neglected,” the demonstrators declared while holding placards. “Our business is dying daily. Save our souls in Akoka.”

One of the demonstrators claimed in a video observed by The PUNCH that they had appealed to the closest IKEDC office multiple times, but to no avail.

She said that although the households pay for Band A, their daily electricity supply is inadequate.

At the time this article was filed, Kingsley Okotie, the spokesperson for Ikeja Electric, had not responded to enquiries asking the DisCo for a response.

Keep in mind that Band A customers are expected to receive energy for at least 20 hours every day.
