During a presidential rally on Saturday, United States Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump was abruptly escorted off stage following the sound of gunshots.

Entrepreneurng gathered that the incident took place at Trump’s campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The Secret Service swiftly intervened, escorting Trump off the stage after gunfire erupted.

In response to the event, Trump’s spokesperson, Steven Cheung, reassured the public, stating, “President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow.”

US Secret Service chief of communications, Anthony Guglielmi, confirmed Trump’s safety.

“An incident occurred the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania. The Secret Service has implemented protective measures, and the former President is safe.

“This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available,” Guglielmi stated.

According to CNN, pool reporters present at the Butler rally reported hearing “a series of loud explosions or loud bangs” before Secret Service agents rushed toward Trump.

“The Secret Service went and immediately covered President Trump,” noted the pool report. “Pool heard residual bangs afterward.”

Agents quickly moved Trump off stage, with some witnesses noting that he was seen waving his fists in the air as he was escorted away.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has confirmed a yet-to-be-identified gunman shot him at a presidential rally in Pennsylvania.

In a statement via his social media handle after the incident, Trump noted he was “shot” in the “upper part of my right ear,” adding that “much bleeding took place.”

In the Truth Social post, he thanked the Secret Service and law enforcement for their “rapid response.”

“Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured,” Trump stated.
