Are you seeking an internship with a prominent, global financial firm that will be both exciting and challenging? Are you about to finish your doctorate in economics or a similar discipline? You might be a good fit for the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Internship Program (FIP)!
A paid internship lasting 10–12 weeks will be offered to selected candidates between June and September of 2025. At the time of the offer, the intern and the IMF supervisor will decide on the exact dates of the internship. The internship will take place in person in Washington, DC, at the IMF headquarters.
You will research and analyse a topic chosen by the Fund under the supervision of an experienced IMF colleague. A research paper that is the result of your study can be published internally.
Eligibility
- Be within one to two years of completing a PhD in macroeconomics or a related field.
- Be in student status at the time of the internship (i.e. continuing PhD studies after the internship).
- Be below the age of 32 at the commencement of the internship.
- Have an excellent command of English, written and oral.
- Possess strong analytical, quantitative and computer skills.
