Air Peace, the leading airline in West and Central Africa, has officially launched its flight schedules for the London service set to debut on March 30, 2024, offering competitive fares.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, the airline revealed that flight schedules for the London route are now accessible on its website, featuring tickets at remarkably low prices.
According to Air Peace, a round-trip Economy Class Ticket is priced at 1,200,000 naira, while a round-trip Business Class Ticket is available for 4,000,000 naira. Nigerian students studying in the UK can also enjoy a special 15% discount on already reduced economy fares.
Last week, during a meeting with travel agents in Lagos, Air Peace had introduced special fares for Nigerian students in the UK, ahead of the London route launch.
London marks Air Peace’s seventh international destination within less than a decade of operation.
Chairman of Air Peace, Barr Allen Onyema, explained that the choice of Gatwick Airport for the Lagos-London flight was due to UK authorities’ refusal to grant access to Heathrow.
Industry stakeholders anticipate that Air Peace’s entry into the London market will intensify competition and drive down ticket prices on the route.
Onyema emphasized that despite initially aiming for Heathrow, Gatwick Airport presented advantages, particularly considering the significant Nigerian population residing in that part of London and the ease of travel to Central London from Gatwick compared to Heathrow.
Regarding the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) between the UK and Nigeria, Onyema highlighted disparities in airport access, expressing disappointment that Heathrow, the UK’s primary airport, was not offered to Air Peace.
In a separate development, Norse Atlantic Airways has agreed with Air Peace for an ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) charter service.
