African Banker Awards 2023 nominees announced

African Banker magazine has announced the shortlist of nominees for this year’s edition of its African Banker Awards (www.AfricanBankerAwards.com).

Since their inception in 2007, the African Banker Awards have sought to recognize the outstanding individuals and organizations driving Africa’s rapidly changing financial services sector. The African Banker Awards winners will be announced at the official gala ceremony on May 24 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, as part of the official program of the African Development Bank Annual Meetings. African Banker and IC Events are organizing the 2023 edition of the African Banker Awards.The African Guarantee Fund (AGF) will sponsor the ceremony at the platinum level, and the Trade and Development Bank (TDB) and Tunisia’s Caisse des Dépots et Consignations, which is managing an important project to support start-ups and SMEs, will sponsor at the associate level.

The significant proportion of female candidates vying for the coveted title of Banker of the Year suggests that this year’s Awards gala will emphasize the theme of gender equity in the industry. In addition, in collaboration with the African Guarantee Fund, a new award, the AFAWA Bank of the Year, has been established to recognize and encourage initiatives aimed at propelling financial inclusivity for women across the African continent. AFAWA (Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa) is a pan-African initiative aimed at closing the $42 billion financing gap faced by African women.

The African Banker Awards nominees were selected from a record number of entries, representing the entirety of the African continent, over a total of 10 categories, and shortlisted by the Awards committee. The nominees for the African Banker Awards 2023 are:
