The U.S. Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria’s Public Diplomacy Section is inviting organisations to submit applications for a project that will promote graduate and undergraduate higher education possibilities in the United States for high-achieving, low-income Nigerian students.

Standard advising centres and providing financial aid for the application procedure are the main goals of the US Embassy Higher Education Grant Opportunity.

To assist the 2025–26 Education Advising Program in Nigeria, which includes the Education USA Opportunity Funds Program, the implementing partner will collaborate closely with the Public Diplomacy Section’s Education Specialists in Abuja and Lagos.

Additionally, the partner would support the Standard Advising Centres in Kano, Jos, Ibadan, and Calabar.

Eligibility

To be considered for the US Embassy Higher Education Grant Opportunity, eligible organizations must:

  • Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations.
  • Public and private educational institutions.
  • Public international organizations and governmental institutions.

Other Eligibility Requirements

  • All organizations must have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) issued via SAM.gov as well as a
    valid registration in SAM.gov.
  • Applicants are only allowed to submit one proposal per organization. If more than one proposal is submitted from an organization, all proposals from that institution will be considered ineligible for funding.

Benefits

Forty high-achieving, low-income Nigerian students who are anticipated to get full financial aid from U.S. schools and institutions but lack the funds to meet essential expenses are the target of the US Embassy Education Grant.

Costs covered include;

  • standardized test fees,
  • application fees,
  • airfare,
  • visa fees,
  • SEVIS fees, and
  • settling-in expenses.

During the performance period, the implementing partner will engage with the Education USA network in Abuja and Lagos to accomplish these objectives under the guidance of the Country Education Specialist.

Deadline: January 27, 2025
