Omoni Oboli, a well-known actress, has advised aspiring actors not to be desperate. In a recent interview with Glasshouse with AY, AY Comedian’s podcast, Oboli disclosed this. “Don’t be desperate; that’s what leads to those things,” she remarked.
She reminded the audience that success is inevitable and that “nobody is God, nobody can play God.” No one can stop you from doing what you want to do when the time is right. When the time is right, a woman will give you a chance if a man doesn’t.
She remarked, “I am so proud to be a woman today in the Nigerian film industry,” in reference to the enormous achievements of Nollywood women. There are a lot of women who have followed in my footsteps and are doing fantastically since the time I was afraid to pursue a career in directing. The industry is now dominated by women. It is a source of pride.
“There are so many people I have helped in this industry that will never mention my name, and I don’t care,” Omoni said, looking back on her own contributions to the field. I don’t control the individual. God used me so much that I can’t even recall helping you get anywhere. I was merely a vessel, and if I refuse, He will use someone else. It wasn’t me.
