Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, announced on Friday that all 21 electronic gates (E-gates) at Lagos airports would be fully operational within three weeks. Tunji-Ojo stated this while inspecting the level of work at the E-wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport’s new terminal in Lagos. He also expressed satisfaction with the quality of job completed ( Lagos airport).
“So what we can see is that it is fully installed, and what is left is just the Universal Access transceiver (UAT) and then align the sensors.”Of course, by Monday, this wing will be completely ready to go. Of course, from here, we proceed to the D wing. In the D wing, we have eight gates.
“Due to the ease of mobility, we are unable to close and block all three airports at the same time. “So we have to take it one terminal at a time. We already have the promise that the E wing will be done by this weekend, leaving only the D wing (Lagos airport).
“The D wing, which has eight gates like this one, could take us up to another three weeks. What this indicates is that Lagos will be fully operational within the next three weeks,” he stated.
Speaking on the timing of the E-gates in Nigeria, the minister stated that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has brought technology and innovation into play. Tunji-Ojo stated that the installation of e-gates was intended to improve national security, provide quick access to global databases, and improve public perception of government while facilitating corporate transactions.
