NGX Sees Subdued Market Activity, ASI Gains a Marginal 0.02%

Market activity experienced a subdued tone as the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) closed flat, with the All-Share Index (ASI) gaining a marginal 0.02% to settle at 71,025.16 points.

While the market capitalization marginally appreciated by N7.8 billion, closing at N39.062 trillion, the market breadth leaned negative, with 22 stocks closing in the positive and 31 in the negative.

The number of deals saw a slight uptick to 6,545 from yesterday’s 6,172. However, despite a 62.7% increase in trading volume to 483.848 million units, the trading value declined to N4.38 billion from N6.16 billion recorded the previous day.

  • Trading for heavy stocks was mostly flat, with only GTCO (+0.14%) recording a price change.
  • BUACEMENT, BUAFOODS, DANGCEM, SEPLAT, and AIRTELAFRI had no price changes.
  • For Tier-1 banks, FBNH and ACCESSCORP recorded no price changes. ZENITHBANK (-0.74%) and UBA (-0.48%) saw price declines, while GTCO (+0.14%) experienced a price appreciation.
