Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), has unveiled his vision to make the agency’s products accessible in every household across Nigeria in the coming years.
Halilu revealed in Abuja that tangible products stemming from NASENI’s prototypes will be introduced into the market through technology transfer arrangements, with a specific target set for the first quarter of 2024. He stated, “Expect some products from NASENI’s research and development efforts in the Nigerian market during the first quarter of 2024.” This announcement was made during his inaugural television media interaction held on November 2, 2023, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
Halilu emphasized the high expectations of NASENI stakeholders and stressed that the agency’s activities must be transparent and focused to assist it in fulfilling its mandate. Since taking office in September, one of his key priorities has been to enhance the human capital potential of the agency by improving staff motivation, enabling them to adapt to the forthcoming system changes. He also highlighted that engaging stakeholders and rebranding the agency around its products and technologies remain top priorities.
The new NASENI Chief Executive underscored the agency’s shift from merely accumulating prototypes on shelves, emphasizing that all NASENI products and technologies must reach the market. He stated, “We are going to do a national rebranding to have NASENI products in every household in the country. In the next few years, this is what Nigerians should expect. We are no longer going to sit back and watch endless research and prototypes collect dust on the shelves.”
This strategic vision aligns to make NASENI’s products and innovations readily available and beneficial to every household in Nigeria, potentially driving technological advancement and economic growth. As NASENI’s products are introduced, their impact on various sectors and industries will be closely monitored.
