Some car models will not be available in the new year 2025. They will follow in 2024. The transition to electric vehicles is a major component contributing to this shortage. In essence, car manufacturers are discontinuing a shocking number of SUVs this year, according to USA reports.
Here is a list of the car models:
Audi A5 coupé and convertible
While the A5 will continue to be sold as a hatchback in 2025, the coupe and convertible choices will be discontinued after the 2024 model year. The shift occurs as Audi prepares to revamp its lineup, with plans to deliver 20 “new or improved” models by the end of 2026, half of which will be electric.
Ford Edge
Ford ceased manufacturing of the Edge SUV at its Oakville Assembly plant in Ontario, Canada, to “retool for new vehicles,” according to a statement released earlier this year.
The business intends to move production of its F-Series Super Duty truck, which is one of the brand’s most popular and profitable vehicles, to Oakville beginning next year. In a post on Ford’s website, president and CEO Jim Farley stated that the carmaker has struggled to meet demand for the Super Duty, and “this move benefits our customers and supercharges our Ford Pro commercial business.”
Lamborghini Huraca
The Italian automaker has discontinued the Huracán sports vehicle to make way for the Temerario, which will be launched in August, according to a company statement.
Mitsubishi Mirage
Mitsubishi already announced plans to discontinue production of the Mirage, a tiny hatchback, in the United States late this year. Mitsubishi’s spokesperson, Jeremy Barnes, told USA TODAY that the company expects “sufficient dealer stock” to last into the summer of 2025.
Nissan GT-R & Titan
The Nissan GT-R was produced for the North American market for 17 years before being discontinued in October. The GT-R “leaves an unforgettable legacy,” the company said in a June statement.
However, “Nissan is now hyperfocused on the future and the next era of exciting innovation in performance.” Production of the Nissan Titan truck will finish in the summer of 2024 to allow the carmaker to convert its Canton, Mississippi, plant to produce electric vehicles.
“TITAN has been an important nameplate for Nissan in North America for 20 years, and we’re grateful to the dealers, customers and thousands of employees who have played pivotal roles throughout TITAN’s lifecycle,” according to a statement sent by email.
Toyota Venza
Toyota will end production of the Venza for the US market after the 2024 model year. Toyota “remains committed to the premium crossover SUV segment and has replaced the model with the first-ever 2025 Toyota Crown Signia,” according to a statement from the firm.
