On Thursday, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) declared that Justin Madugu has been named the senior women’s national team Super Falcons’ interim head coach. Randy Waldrum, who quit earlier this month for family reasons, was replaced by Justin Madugu in the role.
Here are five things to know about the Super Falcons’ recently hired interim coach, though:
1. Randy Waldrum, an American coach, employed Justin Madugu as an assistant coach.
2. He was briefly a member of the squad after Nigeria’s FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign in 2017.
3. Coach Madugu led Nigeria to victory over Ethiopia in a two-leg match to start the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
4. He has completed several coaching courses, including the NFF/CAF Football Coaching Course, the Tiki Taka Football Development Course, the National Football Coach Seminar, and the Globacom Premier League International Seminar. He is a CAF A and B licensed coach.
5. Madugu has held positions as Chief Coach at Flying Makwada FC Numan, Chief/Head/Assistant Coach at Makwada FC, Technical Advisor at Adamawa United FC, Technical Advisor/Team Manager at Makwada Warriors and Makwada Queens, and Technical Advisor at FC Taraba.
