Since the earliest times, rings have represented riches, prestige, and passion. The most expensive rings in the world are set with jewels that exhibit remarkable craftsmanship.

These rings are investments and pieces of art, not just accessories. According to La Patidia, a luxury encyclopaedia that discusses jewellery and lifestyle, the top 5 most costly rings in the world are listed here, along with a brief history of each:

The Diamond Ring with a Pink Star

At an astounding $71.2 million, the Pink Star Diamond Ring is the most expensive ring ever to be sold at auction. The focal point of the item is an oval-shaped fancy intense pink Type IIa diamond weighing 59.60 carats, which is regarded as one of the best and largest of its kind.

De Beers mined this magnificent gem in South Africa in 1999, and it took them almost two years to perfectly cut and polish it. It was certified as the world’s largest internally flawless fancy vivid pink diamond by the GIA in 2016.

The Pink Star Ring by Williamson

At a Sotheby’s auction in Hong Kong, the Williamson Pink Star ring brought in a record-breaking $57.7 million. The sale broke the previous record for the highest price per carat of any gemstone or diamond in general.

As a result, it rose to the status of the second-most precious jewel or gemstone ever to be sold at auction. One of the most costly rings ever sold, this ring has an 11.15-carat Cushion-cut flawless fancy intense pink Type IIa diamond.

The Williamson Pink, which Queen Elizabeth II received, and the Pink Star, the most valuable diamond ever sold at auction, are the two famous pink diamonds that inspired the diamond’s name.

The Blue Diamond Ring by Oppenheimer

The 14.62-carat fancy vivid blue Type IIb diamond in the Oppenheimer Blue Diamond Ring sold for $57.5 million at a Christie’s auction in Geneva. The ring, which bears Sir Philip Oppenheimer’s name, is renowned for its remarkable colour and clarity, making it one of the rarest and most expensive blue diamonds in existence. It was classified as a Type IIb diamond by the GIA in May 2015, which is a special class of diamonds with blue and grey tones.

The Josephine Blue Moon

A gorgeous exquisite vivid blue diamond ring weighing 12.03 carats is called the Blue Moon of Josephine. The diamond known as Blue Moon was christened after Josephine, the millionaire Joseph Lau of Hong Kong, after he paid $48.4 million for it. It is an extremely rare and sought-after piece due to its perfect purity and vivid blue tint. Miners at the premier mine discovered the original rough diamond in January 2014.

The Pink Diamond Ring by Graff

A spectacular intense pink emerald-cut diamond weighing 24.78 carats is set in a platinum ring as part of the Graff Pink Diamond Ring. It was sold to famous jeweller Laurence Graff for $46.16 million. The diamond is among the most well-known pink diamonds in the world due to its enormous size, uncommon colour, and flawless quality, all of which add to its enormous worth.

Conclusion

These rings are the epitome of elegance and skill; their individual qualities and backgrounds add to their enormous worth. These are not only jewellery items; they are also representations of great beauty, riches, and prestige.
