During a pre-convocation briefing in UniAbuja on Thursday, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, revealed that a total of 41 graduating students out of 9,172 will be awarded First Class honors at the institution’s 28th convocation ceremony scheduled for Saturday, February 17, 2024.

Prof. Na’Allah provided a comprehensive breakdown of the graduating cohort, stating that the regular program will see 6,237 graduates, while the Centre for Distance Learning and Continuing Education program will produce 971 graduates, and the Institute of Education will graduate 688 students.

Further elaborating on the distribution of graduates, Prof. Na’Allah noted that out of the undergraduate students, 1,845 will receive Second Class Honours (Upper Division), 4,842 will receive Second Class Honours (Lower Division), 1,075 will receive Third Class Degrees, and 50 will receive Pass Degrees. Additionally, there will be 43 MBBS graduates, 151 PhD recipients, 742 Masters Degree holders (including professional Masters), and 383 post-graduate Diploma recipients.

In addition to announcing the number of graduating students, Prof. Na’Allah highlighted the institution’s achievements, including the establishment of four new facilities and the unbundling of the Mass Communication department into seven different departments. He also mentioned that the Central Bank of Nigeria has granted approval for the university’s micro-finance bank to commence operations, UniAbuja.
