The United States has officially released its 2025 Visa Waiver Program (VWP), allowing citizens from 40 countries to visit the U.S. without a visa for tourism or business purposes for up to 90 days.

This year’s update includes Romania as a new addition while retaining most of the countries previously eligible.

However, the United Kingdom remains excluded, though certain travelers may still qualify under specific conditions.

Notably, no African nations—including Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa—are part of the list for 2025.

Key Requirements for the Visa Waiver Program

According to the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs, individuals traveling under the VWP must:

– Obtain approval through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) before departure.

– Meet all eligibility and security requirements outlined by the U.S. government.

– Opt for a traditional visa application if they prefer having a visa stamped in their passport.

The initiative is part of the U.S. government’s efforts to enhance security while maintaining strong diplomatic ties with participating nations.

It also streamlines the travel process, making it easier for millions of international visitors to enter the U.S. for business, tourism, or transit.
