Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, the Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone Ltd., claims the company dealt with over 27 million cyber attacks on its facilities during the 2023 Election. Adeyanju made this known during a courtesy visit to him in Abuja on Friday by Malam Jibrin Baba-Ndace, Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON).
According to Adeyanju, the organisation takes pleasure in being a cutting-edge security operation centre that defends the government’s cyberspace. “We take part in defending Nigeria in cyberspace. Even during the election and collation of 2023 election results, we received 27 million attacks in a single day.
“There will be no more than 50,000 attacks before the election. So, having nearly 30 million attacks in a single day indicated that something big was happening. “They didn’t succeed. There was nothing for them because our security operation centre was quite competent at protecting against cyber attacks.
“Similarly, during the last protest a few weeks ago, we saw an increase in attacks. We were not startled because we had heard in the press that the protest would be held both physically and online. “So, there were a lot of online attacks, but we were able to survive, through our operation centre,” he said reporters.
The Galaxy Backbone CEO stated that the business had a centre where it monitored all of its networks in practically every state of the federation. Speaking, the VON DG, Ndace, stated that he came to the organisation to strengthen the cooperation between VON and Galaxy Backbone.
He sought ICT and cyber security help and capacity building for VON employees in order to improve fact checking, defend the organization’s online domain, and fight fake news.
