The United States Embassy in Nigeria has announced that it will transition to a new visa services provider for its consular operations in Abuja and Lagos, effective August 26, 2024.
This change was communicated through the embassy’s official website and verified social media platforms.
According to the statement, Nigerian applicants who have already secured visa appointment dates will lose access to the current U.S. travel website starting August 16, 2024. Nevertheless, the embassy assures that suitable arrangements are in place to accommodate both existing and future applicants during the transition to the new service provider.
For those with scheduled interviews on or before August 16, 2024, no further action is necessary. These applicants can continue to log in to their accounts at ustraveldocs.com to check their appointment details and contact customer service if needed.
Applicants with interviews set between August 16 and August 26, 2024, also do not need to take additional steps but should note that they will lose access to their ustraveldocs.com accounts after August 16, 2024. This means they will be unable to cancel or reschedule their appointments or access customer service.
These applicants are advised to print their appointment confirmation letters before August 16, 2024, and attend their scheduled interviews if possible. If they cannot attend, they should check back on or after August 26, 2024, for guidance on how to reschedule.
The statement further explains that applicants with interviews scheduled for August 26, 2024, or later do not need to take any additional actions but will also lose access to their ustraveldocs.com accounts after August 16, 2024.
Starting August 26, 2024, applicants should visit the embassy’s new visa services website for details on setting up a new user account, which will be necessary to manage their visa information and access customer service. It is recommended to print the appointment confirmation letter before August 16, 2024, to prevent any issues when setting up the new account.
For those who have paid the visa application fee but have not yet scheduled an interview, the embassy strongly recommends booking an appointment promptly and following the instructions provided according to their interview dates.
For individuals who have not yet paid the visa application fee but plan to travel to the United States in August 2024, it is advised to pay the fee and schedule an appointment immediately. For those intending to travel after August 26, 2024, it may be beneficial to wait until after this date to begin the visa application process.
