On the 27th of April 2023, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) released a statement in response to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent appeal for forgiveness from those he has hurt, Entrepreneurng report.
The statement, which was issued by the Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, expressed the group’s resentment towards Buhari, stating that his alleged “sins” against Nigerians would never be forgiven. The separatist group’s message emphasized that they will continue to expose him and his actions.
The President had made the appeal for forgiveness on Sallah day, inside the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja. During his address, he expressed gratitude to Nigerians for tolerating him and acknowledged that he had hurt many. Buhari also mentioned that he was looking forward to retiring to his hometown, Daura and that he would leave for the Niger Republic if disturbed.
In response to these remarks, IPOB’s statement was a scathing criticism of Buhari’s actions during his tenure as President of Nigeria. The group’s message denounced his leadership and questioned the credibility of his apology. The statement claimed that the President’s plea for forgiveness was insincere and that he had no intention of making amends for his “sins” against the Nigerian people.
The group further accused Buhari of corruption, nepotism, and disregard for the rule of law. They claimed that his administration had failed to provide adequate security for the Nigerian people and that he had turned a blind eye to the atrocities committed by Fulani herdsmen in the country.
IPOB stated that Buhari’s actions had caused immense harm to Nigerians and that his appeal for forgiveness was a feeble attempt to absolve himself of responsibility.
The IPOB statement went on to condemn the President’s plan to retire to his hometown, Daura, and his threat to relocate to the Niger Republic if disturbed.
The group claimed that Buhari’s decision to leave the country was an admission of failure and that it showed his lack of commitment to Nigeria. They also stated that his plan to relocate to the Niger Republic would not protect him from the consequences of his actions.
In conclusion, the IPOB statement was a passionate condemnation of the Nigerian President’s actions during his tenure. The group’s message made it clear that they would continue to hold Buhari accountable for his actions and that they would not be silenced until justice was served.
It also demonstrated the group’s unwavering opposition to the President, insisting that his crimes would be exposed and that he would not escape the consequences of his actions.
