The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has stated that it is unaware of the requirement for Nigerians to have a $10,000 bank balance and pay an N640,000 application fee to receive a visa.
On Monday, the Federal Government of Nigeria announced, through the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, that the Federal Government and UAE authorities had achieved an agreement to lift travel restrictions imposed on Nigerians, effective immediately.
The minister announced that Nigerian passport holders can now travel to the UAE without any restrictions. Following this new development, the ministry advised Nigerians seeking current information on UAE visa criteria to visit documentverificationhub.ae.
According to the Cable, the UAE’s Department of Economy and Tourism stated that the DV hub website is not linked with the UAE government. The Dubai General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs (GDRFAD) stated, “You will need a personal photo and a copy of your passport, which must have at least six months validity,” while outlining the visa application process.
“A tourist visa costs between 200 and 300 dirhams (N60,000 and 90,000), depending on the length of stay. “You will also need a travel ticket and valid medical insurance within the UAE,” the GDRFAD said in its statement.
