Atiku Abubakar, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, and Peter Obi, the candidate for the Labour Party, have refused to accept the loss in the presidential election on February 25 and have vowed to reclaim their mandate in court.
In his acceptance speech after being named the winner of the election on Wednesday, Bola Tinubu requested the two candidates to join him in the effort to improve the country, but the gesture of reconciliation was rejected by the two contenders. On Thursday in Abuja, Atiku, and Obi each gave a speech at a separate news conference.
The Independent National Electoral Commission announced Tinubu as the winner of the election for president early on Wednesday morning after the 70-year-old received 8,794,726 votes to overcome Atiku and Obi, who received 6,984,520 and 6,101 votes, respectively.
On interrupting his silence peter Obi asserted that he had won the election and was prepared to produce the results 24 hours after Tinubu was named the victor of the fiercely contested elections.
He mentioned how the election in which Tinubu was pronounced the winner was contentious and pre-planned to produce a certain outcome. He emphasized that the election did not adhere to the standards and could not be considered credible.
The former governor of Anambra State argued that Nigerians had been denied their rightful choice, and he said he was prepared to contest the results until he could establish his case in court.
“The election that we just watched was done as planned, and the results were announced. Contrary to what we were promised, there is a blatant violation of electoral laws and regulations.
However, the minimum requirements for a free, fair, transparent, and credible election were not met by this election. It will be remembered as one of the most divisive elections ever held in Nigeria.
“Our putative leaders, whom they trusted, have once more looted the good and hardworking people of Nigeria,” he stated.
The LP candidate declared that he is going to reassure the wonderful people of Nigeria that he would explore all legal and peaceful measures to reclaim the mandate. I’ll show Nigerians that we won the election.

The former governor stated that he thought it was crucial for Nigeria to sanitize the process by which people are appointed to any office. The way people enter the office is significantly more essential than what they accomplish.
“We must now insist that we act morally and with the appropriate confidence to take charge. As you are aware, when we behave slyly and deliberately in manipulating the rule of law and suppressing the will of the people, the structure of society starts to regress.
Also, he claimed that after successfully contesting multiple election results, he would approach the court with the conviction that he would be granted justice.
In conclusion, peter obi thinks that if truly Bola Ahmed Tinubu should be addressed as “Your Excellency,” his arrival at the workplace must go smoothly.
