Top 20: Nigeria Ranks Fifth Worldwide in Daily Social Media Usage

In 2024, Nigeria has emerged among the global leaders in social media engagement, ranking fifth for average daily time spent on platforms, as reported by Cable.co.uk and We Are Social, with data shared by World of Statistics on X.

Nigerians are reported to spend an average of 3 hours and 23 minutes per day on social media, placing the country just behind Kenya, South Africa, Brazil, and the Philippines.

Kenya tops the list with an average daily usage of 3 hours and 43 minutes, followed by South Africa at 3 hours and 37 minutes, Brazil at 3 hours and 34 minutes, and the Philippines at 3 hours and 33 minutes.

Other countries with notable daily social media usage times include Colombia (3:22), Chile (3:11), and Indonesia (3:11). Saudi Arabia and Argentina complete the top ten with averages of 3 hours and 10 minutes and 3 hours and 8 minutes, respectively.

In contrast, some countries have comparatively lower social media usage. For example, Ghana averages 2 hours and 43 minutes, Egypt 2 hours and 41 minutes, and Thailand 2 hours and 30 minutes daily.

European nations, such as Portugal (2:23), Romania (2:20), and Italy (2:17), also record lower daily engagement times, highlighting regional differences in social media habits.
