The Wright brothers form a million-dollar corporation for the commercial manufacture of their airplanes.
In 1909, transportation was very limited. With the Ford Model T arriving in 1908, automobiles were just starting to take the United States by storm. Trains were the other main source of transportation, but the duration of the trip would last days to travel long distances.
In 1908, the Wright brothers spilt up in order to market their developed airplane. Wilbur traveled to Europe where he displayed how the airplane worked, while Orville did the same in Virginia. The Wright brothers really hit success in 1909, when they won the first United States aviation contract. It was worth $30,000.
Wright Flyers became the name of the Wright Brothers famous aviation corporation, and on 23 November 1909 they began building airplanes in Dayton, Ohio and Germany. Although Wilbur died in 1912 from fever and Orville sold his interests in the company in 1915, their work will never be forgotten.
The Wright brothers and Wright Flyers changed the world we live in today. Airplanes changed the transportation system forever providing people with a fast, safe, and easy way of travel.
