Stakeholders would be converging at this year’s IOT West Africa Conference and Exhibition to look into emerging trends in blockchain technology, big data, artificial intelligence and others in Africa.

The organisers of the conference, which has been scheduled to hold from July 4 – 6, 2023, Vertex Next, in a statement, disclosed that the conference and exhibition will take place at Landmark Centre, Lagos.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Vertex Next, Mr Shitij Taneja, stated, “The ever-evolving business environment and challenges call for technological transformation and digitally reliant operating models.”

According to him, the comeback of IOT will allow innovators and experts to share expertise and emerging trends to mentor African technological transformation, making way for Blockchain Technology, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and more.

“Our cutting-edge platforms are designed to ensure that the buying experience in the industry is fired up with learning experiences and provides quick access to the latest solutions in the sector,” Taneja added.

He noted that the events will be immersed with modernised and value-added discussions, exhibits and investment opportunities at IOT West Africa and Data Centres Live.

“The IoT event will provide a platform for rising businesses to showcase their innovative ideas and cutting-edge solutions along with their experiences through keynote speeches, technical demos, webinars, panel discussions, and workshops by industry experts. The attendees will be provided with the opportunity to gain valuable insights and knowledge on the latest trends and developments in the field of IoT and future connectivity,” he further stated.

He added that the Data Centres Live, a platform for Digital and Cloud infrastructure ecosystems, would be unveiled at the next edition of IOT West Africa.

“The idea is to ensure a network with ever-faster delivery of innovative infrastructure hardware, software, resource abstraction, and process technologies. Nigeria itself has a total of 11 colocation data centres and a total of 91 in all of Africa. The focus of the venture is to address the challenges and opportunities for growth for data centres in Africa,” Taneja explained.

He also revealed that the conference will cover advancing data centres, critical infrastructures, future-proofing the data centres, data centre’s workforce, green technologies, and many more crucial topics of discussion.

“The three-day event will serve as an ideal podium for industry leaders, businesses, and startups to amplify opportunities, tract investments and drive the digital-economical-technological transformation for the region. The participants can network with entrepreneurs, angel investors, and VCs to uplift businesses, and startups, create jobs and navigate the growth of the country,” he averred.

According to Taneja, Nigeria is taking exemplary initiatives in the power and water sector, overcoming its contraction of 3.2 per cent in the economy during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said, “Transforming challenges into opportunities, the country has been making efforts and advancements in the field of technology, manufacturing, agriculture, and services. The Nigerian government is also making conscious efforts for development through their countless initiatives to promote small and medium-sized enterprises. Power & Water and IoT have been a part of the initiatives commenced by the Nigerian government to facilitate advancement.”
