Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have distanced themselves from an internet report stating that the first lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, is responsible for the Assembly’s ongoing problem.
In a statement issued by Mr. Stephen Ogundipe, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Strategy, and Security, the House declared that all members of the Lagos State House of Assembly had no link to the allegation, which it described as untrue and unsubstantiated.
According to Ogundipe, the report is a complete fiction with no basis in truth. The statement states in part, “All members of the Assembly hold the First Lady in high regard.” Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the former First Lady of Lagos State and current First Lady of Nigeria, has made major contributions to governance and national development.
“It is therefore inconceivable that any member of the Assembly would accuse her of involvement in legislative matters or seek to tarnish her reputation.”We categorically affirm that the First Lady has no role in any internal House disagreements.
Any attempt to associate her with these concerns is completely incorrect. “We ask members of the press, as critical stakeholders, to maintain the highest levels of journalistic integrity by confirming material before publication.
