Senator Ali Ndume (APC, Borno South) has pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the growing food prices and electricity to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians.
Additionally, he issued a warning that saboteurs and fifth columnists were collaborating to damage the legacy that the Tinubu administration had laboriously worked to establish and leave for Nigerians.
This was stated by Ndume in a statement on Friday in Abuja. He stated that ordinary Nigerians, particularly the impoverished and vulnerable, were finding life intolerable due to the skyrocketing costs of fuel, food, and other necessities.
In place of regulating the inflation and exchange rate that are making life intolerable for Nigerians, the federal legislator claims that “bad elements are trying hard to pitch the people against the administration of President Tinubu by pushing for harsh reforms and bad policies.”
He lamented that those determined to discredit the President will stop at nothing to hurt Nigerians by enacting “the so-called reforms until things get out of hand and the blame will be on President Tinubu.” Ndume, who was providing advice to President Tinubu’s administration, claimed that the hyperinflation brought on by constant price hikes for necessities had left many families unable to fulfil their daily needs.
“I think President Bola Ahmed Tinubumeans well for Nigeria and Nigerians,” Ndume stated. I am aware of what he stands for, so I know this. However, a few of his advisors who harbour malice for the citizens of this nation offer him incorrect counsel. I’m pleading with him to stand up to these nasty people who seek to turn the populace against his government. It is getting to be intolerable how much suffering these guys are causing Nigerians. Right now, I’m in Borno, so I can speak with authority.
People are hungry, in pain, irate, and frustrated. Many families in this Borno State are no longer even able to afford food. It is inconceivable how much pain these price rises have caused. Due to the exorbitant expense of transportation, farmers are no longer even able to move their agricultural products.
“Many people can’t feed again because those who can still do this add the cost of transportation to the prices of food items they sell.” No one is able to travel anymore. For example, it would cost a fortune to drive from Abuja to Maiduguri. Few people in our community can afford that? I’m confident that President Tinubu has the best interests of Nigerians at heart, so he shouldn’t stand by and watch as a few misguided advisors wreck this nation. I’m pleading with him to act now before it’s too late because of this. It is not a smart idea to try Nigerians’ patience, and that is precisely what these terrible advisors are doing.
“I implore the President to investigate these matters and take immediate action as soon as he gets back to Nigeria. Nigerians have relatively little purchasing power, thus they are unable to afford the items that state opponents constantly try to force upon them.
