President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to healthcare initiatives has earned him the prestigious appointment as the African Union (AU) Champion for Human Resources for Health and Community Health Delivery Partnership.
His notable efforts, including the pledge to train 120,000 frontline health workers and the commitment to doubling the number of primary health facilities to over 17,000 within three years, have garnered recognition from the African Union.
The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) officially conveyed this appointment to Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighting President Tinubu’s endorsement by the Committee of Heads of State and Government of Africa CDC.
In his new capacity, President Tinubu will address the Ministerial Executive Leadership Programme (MELP), titled ‘Impactful Leadership in Health: A Whole Government Approach.’ The event is scheduled for February 17, 2024, coinciding with the 37th Ordinary Session of the AU Heads of State and Government at the Africa CDC Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Tinubu administration’s commitment to attracting global investments in Nigeria’s health sector, bolstering infrastructure, equipping facilities, and enhancing the healthcare workforce aligns with ensuring quality healthcare access for all Nigerians.
