Pi Network has officially announced that it will transition to the Open Network phase of its Mainnet on February 20, 2025, at 8:00 AM UTC.
This significant milestone comes after the completion of key objectives during the Enclosed Mainnet phase, which began in December 2021.
Key Achievements Leading to Open Network:
-
KYC Verification: Over 19 million Pioneers have successfully completed the Know Your Customer (KYC) process, surpassing the initial target of 15 million.
-
Mainnet Migration: The network has achieved 10.14 million Mainnet migrations, exceeding the original goal of 10 million.
-
Ecosystem Development: More than 100 Mainnet-ready applications have been developed, contributing to a vibrant and functional ecosystem.
The Pi blockchain will be able to connect externally once the current firewall is removed by switching to the Open Network. This advancement increases Pi’s usefulness and reach by enabling it to communicate with other compatible networks and systems. Transactions outside of the Pi ecosystem will be possible for pioneers, allowing for wider integration and adoption.
Preparations for Pioneers and Developers:
-
KYC and Migration: Pioneers who have not yet completed the KYC process or migrated to the Mainnet are encouraged to do so promptly to fully participate in the Open Network.
-
Ecosystem Engagement: Active participation in Pi applications and services is encouraged to support ongoing ecosystem development and utility expansion.
-
Node Operation: The Core Team will gradually invite Pioneers to transition their nodes from Testnet to Mainnet, prioritizing those with strong historical contributions and reliability scores.
The Pi Network community is poised to embrace this new phase, aiming to realize the vision of a widely accessible and utility-driven cryptocurrency ecosystem.
