Dr. Ayed S. Al-Qahtani, Director of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Research Division, will speak at the sixth edition of South Sudan Oil & Power (SSOP) 2023, which will take place from June 14-16 in Juba.
OPEC‘s participation at SSOP 2023 will assist in advancing the country’s agenda, with Dr. Al-Qahtani’s participation poised to facilitate engagement with international energy leaders while improving regional cooperation; creating cross-border fuel security and stability; and bolstering investment in the mid and downstream sectors.
OPEC’s participation at this year’s edition of SSOP 2023 speaks to the important position South Sudan plays as the Engine of East African Growth. South Sudan is focused on boosting exploration and opening new oil and gas fields, and as the event enhances the country’s position as the nexus of East African energy development, Dr. Al-Qahtani’s participation will advance the relationships between African oil producers, states James Chester, Energy Capital & Power Senior Director.
Meanwhile, according to OPEC Secretary General, Haitham Al Ghais, the organization’s Statistical Systems Coordinator for the Data Service Department, Mhammed Mouraia, has also been nominated to participate in the event.
