Adebayo “Bayo” Ogunlesi, the CEO and chairman of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), has been added to OpenAI‘s board of directors.
Ogunlesi, a notable figure in infrastructure investing, co-founded GIP, a private equity group that manages over $100 billion in assets, including major holdings such as Gatwick Airport and the Port of Melbourne.
His hiring coincides with OpenAI’s major reorganisation and change to a for-profit company in order to better compete in the quickly developing AI market.
It is anticipated that Ogunlesi’s experience would play a key role in directing OpenAI’s infrastructure strategy, especially in obtaining the resources required to further AI development.
This action is in line with OpenAI’s plans to develop its capabilities and keep a competitive advantage in the AI market.
