OPay, a leading Nigerian financial services provider, has expanded its ₦1.2 billion 10-year scholarship initiative to Kwara State Polytechnic. This marks the first time a polytechnic is included in the program, which aims to support 400 students annually across Nigeria.
Under this initiative, 20 outstanding students from Kwara State Polytechnic will receive scholarships worth ₦300,000 each. The program is designed to alleviate financial burdens, enabling students to focus on their academic and personal development.
OPay’s Managing Director/CEO, Dauda Gotring, emphasised the company’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youth, stating, “Our scholarship support is to ensure that the dreams of talented scholars do not die.”
The Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting its significant impact on student motivation and academic excellence.
This expansion follows OPay’s recent inclusion of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) in the scholarship program, reflecting the company’s ongoing efforts to foster educational development across various Nigerian institutions.
