Ademola Adeyemi-Bero, Nigeria’s OPEC Governor in 2025, has been chosen Chairman of OPEC’s Board of Governors for the same year.
This was announced in a statement on Tuesday by Nneamaka Okafor, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources special assistant on media and communication.
The 189th meeting of OPEC, which took place on Tuesday, affirmed the appointment of Mr. Adeyemi-Bero, Nigeria’s governor for OPEC, according to the statement.
The statement read: “Nigeria has reaffirmed its leadership in the global energy sector with the appointment of Mr Ademola Adeyemi-Bero, Nigeria’s Governor for OPEC, as Chairman of the OPEC Board of Governors for 2025.
“Prior to his appointment as the Chairman of the OPEC Board of Governors, he was confirmed as Nigeria’s OPEC Governor for the year 2025.”
Nigeria’s significant influence in the global energy market is evident by this appointment. Adeyemi-Bero’s promotion was hailed by Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), as evidence of Nigeria’s proactive involvement in the world oil business.
Adeyemi-Bero was the CEO of FIRST Exploration & Petroleum Development Company Limited (FIRST E&P), an independent oil business in Nigeria, before taking on this position.
