Due to her exceptional achievement in their residency training, Dr. Chika Olijo, a Nigerian-Canadian woman, was awarded the George Frieur Award at the University of Calgary Cummings School of Post Graduate Medical Education in Alberta, Canada.
She received the honour from the University of Calgary Department of Paediatrics at a send-forward ceremony for the school’s graduating residents.
The Department states that the senior paediatric resident student who “in addition to demonstrating good clinical competency, strives to provide patient care in a warm and compassionate manner to both patient and their family” is the recipient of the award, which is presented annually.
Dr. Chika was given a bonus for her neatness, professionalism, and commitment to her work in addition to the award. Dr. Chika Olijo graduated from the University of Nigeria’s Enugu campus with a medical degree.
Before moving to Canada, where she is currently a licenced paediatrician, she completed her ppresidency training at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Edo State. She subsequently worked as a professional at Macclesfield General Hospital in the United Kingdom. She is wed to Dr. Innocent Olijo, and the two of them have four children together.
