The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) and Daniel Ford International, UK are collaborating to host an extraordinary chess match between Nigerian prodigy Deborah Quickpen and Guinness World Record holder Tunde Onakoya.
Entrepreneurng learnt that the competition will take place on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, in Lagos.
Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, commended the Chief Executive Officer of Daniel Ford International, UK, Yemi Edun, for the initiative.
According to a statement signed by Gabriel Odu of the NIDCOM Media and Protocol Unit, Dabiri-Erewa said the initiative will consistently encourage Nigerians abroad to make meaningful contributions back home.
“I commend you and your team for organising such a meaningful event and for your dedication to the cause of education and empowerment through Chess. Nidcom is glad to partner with you.
“I am confident that this event will be a resounding success and contribute significantly to the growth of Chess in Nigeria and the support of Chess in slums,” Dabiri-Erewa stated.
The historic Chess Competition is being organized jointly by Daniel Ford International, a UK-based real estate and property conglomerate, and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).
Deborah Quickpen holds the prestigious 4th rank in the Global under 12 Category, ranks 3rd in Africa, and holds the top spot in Nigeria, while Tunde Onakoya, although ranked 24th in Nigeria, serves as a remarkable role model for youths nationwide.
