Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the newly appointed Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has pledged to enhance the viability of the authority and optimize revenue generation. Kuku, who is the first female chief executive of the agency, made this commitment during her inaugural meeting with top management, following the handover notes received from the previous leadership represented by the Legal Adviser/Secretary to the Board, Mrs. Gold Bridget Iwinose.
Taking over from Mall. Kabiru Mohammed, the recently dismissed MD, Kuku emphasized the importance of professionalism in the organization. She expressed her determination to focus on optimizing revenue while minimizing waste. Under her leadership, the goal is to increase both aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenue, prioritizing staff welfare and urging commitment from the workforce.
In her statement, Kuku outlined her mission to strengthen FAAN’s professionalism, especially in the areas of security, safety, and standards. She emphasized the criticality of FAAN’s viability as a national asset, deeming it non-negotiable. The new MD underscored her commitment to eliminating waste and promoting efficiency within the organization.
Kuku outlined key focus areas for her tenure, including improving institutional and human capacity. She plans to collaborate with national and international bodies to enhance FAAN’s image and strengthen its network. With the approaching Yuletide season and increased passenger movements, Kuku assured that efforts would be made to enhance passengers’ experiences.
Expressing the urgency to revitalize operations during the busiest season, Kuku pledged to collaborate with various professional interests, sister agencies, and partners to ensure smooth, safe, and secure operations throughout the season. She urged staff to approach their duties with patriotism and a positive attitude, spreading the joy of the Yuletide.
