Barrister Hannatu Musawa, Nigeria’s Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, has sent an official delegation to Amsterdam to discuss the impact of Netflix’s decision to stop commissioning original content on the Nigerian creative economy. The meeting will take place at Netflix’s corporate headquarters.
The delegation is led by Dr Shaibu Husseini, the National Film and Video Censors Board’s Executive Director/CEO. Charles Okpaleke, Kene Okwousa, Moses Iwang, and Joy Odiete will be among the notable stakeholders accompanying him.
This move underscores the Ministry’s commitment to promoting Nigeria’s creative economy and protecting the interests of local content creators. The delegation’s engagement with Netflix is expected to yield positive outcomes for the Nigerian film industry and pave the way for future collaborations.
