Naira depreciates to N1,745/$ in parallel market

The Naira dropped to N1,745 per dollar on the parallel market Friday, down from N1,740 on Thursday.

Similarly, the Naira fell to N1,672.69 per dollar in the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market (NAFEM).

According to FMDQ data, the indicative exchange rate for NAFEM increased to N1,672.69 per dollar from N1,644.86 per dollar on Thursday, suggesting a naira depreciation of N27.83.

The dollar amount transacted (turnover) increased by 54.6 percent, to $254.1 million, from $560.34 million on Thursday.

As a result, the gap between the parallel market and the NAFEM rate shrank to N72.31 per dollar from N95.14 per dollar on Thursday.
