The Nigeria Customs Service, Murtala Muhammed Airport Command said it raked in N28bn as revenue between January and February.

This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Victor Ogagbor.

The Customs Area Controller in charge of the command, Mohammed Yusuf, said the figure surpassed the command’s monthly revenue target, adding that the feat was a result of the synergy and compliance from both officers and stakeholders.

He further urged officers and men of the command to sustain the tempo.

Giving details on the revenue, he said that the command’s expected revenue target for January and February was N23,9bn while the command generated N28.9bn as revenue for January and February, an increase of  N5bn, representing a 20 per cent growth.

Yusuf added that within the period under review, a lot of anti-smuggling activities were carried out that led to the interception of 50 pieces of 9mm live ammunition, which was discovered in a joint examination between the NCS and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency where two suspects were arrested and detained pending further investigation.

In the area of wildlife, he said that within the period under review, 1,164kg of sea cucumbers and 58kg of Donkey Genitals were intercepted.

The CAC charged officers and men of the command to remain resolute to justify the confidence reposed on the service by the Federal Government.
