Meta has announced that content creators in Nigeria and Ghana can now monetize their content on Facebook as of Monday, July 1, 2024. The company has introduced two monetization features: In-Stream Ads and Facebook Ads on Reels, allowing creators to earn money by producing original videos and building communities.
According to Meta, eligible creators can earn money for their video and reel content, with support in over 30 languages globally. To be eligible, creators must comply with Facebook’s Partner Monetization and Content Monetization Policies and be 18. For In-Stream Ads, creators must also have a minimum of 5,000 followers.
In-stream ads can appear before, during, or after on-demand videos, including pre-recorded content and recordings of previous live streams. The types of In-Stream Ads include Pre-roll Ads, Mid-roll Ads, Image Ads, and Post-roll Ads. Ads on Facebook Reels are seamlessly integrated into original reels, allowing creators to be paid based on the performance of their reels.
Moon Baz, the Global Partnerships Lead for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey at Meta, expressed excitement about the rollout, stating that it will empower creators in Nigeria and Ghana to earn money while enhancing creativity globally and making Meta’s platforms a hub for creators.
What Meta is saying
Commenting on the rollout, Global Partnerships Lead, Africa, Middle East and Turkey (AMET) at Meta, Moon Baz, said:
“Every day, we’re inspired by the incredible African creators who use Facebook to tell their stories, connect with others, and unite people.
“This expansion will empower eligible creators in the vibrant creative industry across Nigeria and Ghana to earn money whilst setting the bar high for creativity worldwide and making Meta’s family of apps the one-stop-shop for all creators.”
