Sulley Amin Abubakar, founder of Zaacoal, shares his journey of how he stopped law school and used his school fees to build his company.
In an exclusive interview with YouTuber Wode Maya aka Mr. Ghana Baby, Mr. Sulley Amin Abubakar disclosed that he develop his business idea after he released that coconut sellers poorly disposed of their coconut waste.
According to him, he decided to abandon law school and used his final year school fees to start his charcoal factory.
Mr. Amin added that he came to realisation that the coconut sellers were dumping their waste at the beaches making it very filthy.
Although he got a business idea, he initially didn’t know what to do with the coconut waste until he went out to buy kenkey and saw the seller using the coconut waste to set up her fire instead of firewood.
He then asked himself if it was possible to turn turn coconut waste into charcoal and so decided to join some guys in the Northern part of Ghana to learn how charcoal was made.
According to Mr. Sulley Amin Abubakar, this gave birth to his charcoal company, Zaacoal.
He added that initially his parents were not aware that he had stopped law school to focus on his charcoal company but they later found out.
Mr. Abubakar also mentioned some of the challenges he encountered during his journey of setting up his charcoal factory.
He revealed that there were points where people stole their machines and also it was difficult convince investors to invest his buisness idea.
