1996 World’s first live cloned mammal was born
A team led by Ian Wilmut and Keith Campbell at the Roslin Institute cloned Dolly the Sheep, a domestic ship, using cells from an adult sheep. While her birth was regarded as a success for cloning science, she did not live very long – scientists predicted she would live for about 12 years, but she died just a few months before her seventh birthday.

1995 Armenian Constitution is adopted
Armenia’s constitution was approved and adopted following a nationwide referendum. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the country gained its independence.

Juvénal Habyarimana, then Army Chief of Staff, staged a coup and deposed President Grégoire Kayibanda. Habyarimana then served as president for 20 years.

1811 Venezuela declares independence from Spain
Venezuela declared independence from Spain under the leadership of Francisco de Miranda. This triggered Venezuela’s War of Independence. Ten years later, in 1821, the country gained independence.
