1776 United States Declaration of Independence is adopted in Philadelphia
The declaration declared the 13 British colonies’ independence from the British crown. It also declared the formation of a new country known as the United States of America. On August 2, 1776, the handwritten declaration was approved by the Second Continental Congress and signed by 56 delegates.
