1972 Atari Releases Pong
Pong, one of the first arcade games to hit the market, was a 1 or 2 player video game similar to tennis in which the goal was to hit a ball with a paddle. Around 35000 Pong consoles were sold worldwide.

The Thai military took over the country’s governance and reinstated the 1932 Constitution.

1929 First flight over the South Pole
Richard Byrd, an American explorer, became the first person to fly over the South Pole. The flight took slightly more than 18 hours. Byrd flew over the North Pole three years ago, though it is debatable whether he actually did so.

1899 FC Barcelona founded
Footballer Hans Gamper founded the popular football (soccer) club. Informally known as Barça, the club is regarded as one of the top five richest in the world. The club has won four European Cups (1978-79, 1981-82, 1988-89, and 1996-97) and five Champions Leagues.

1777 City of San Jose Founded
San Jose was founded as San José de Guadalupe, the first city in California. The Ohlone people lived in the area before the Spanish settled there. San Jose was the state of California’s first capital, having been established in 1850.
