On her 38th birthday, the Ijaw Youth Council, or IYC, honoured Dr. Betta Edu globally, calling her a creative and caring Niger Delta youth who looks out for the weak. In a press release, IYC’s spokesperson, Comrade BedfordBerefa Benjamin, characterised the Minister as a good ambassador for Nigerian youths from the Niger Delta region as well as a personification of accomplishments.
As Dr. Edu turns 38, we join Nigerians from all ethnic and religious backgrounds whose lives have been impacted by her compassion and love for the underprivileged.
We are incredibly pleased of our daughter’s accomplishments as Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation; she is a remarkable young woman from the Niger Delta who is unflappable, kind, resilient, creative, and driven, and who is enthusiastic about helping those in need.
“We hope she has a wonderful birthday and many more years of health, happiness, and service to humanity and Nigeria as she turns 38,” the statement read.
Additionally, in keeping with President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope mission, the IYC urged Dr. Edu to never give up or falter in her pursuit of a better society and a fresh start for the impoverished and oppressed.
“In keeping with the poverty alleviation policy, which is the main component of the President’s renewed hope agenda, we encourage our daughter to do as usual by dedicating her birthday to the pursuit of a better society and a new lease of life for the poor and vulnerable in our society as she celebrates yet another new year.”
