Benue’s governor, Hyacinth Alia, stated that his predecessor left his office with salary arrears totaling more than N359 billion for a number of years. During a thank-you visit of the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency on Monday, the governor made this statement at Okpoga, the headquarters of Okpokwu Local Government Area.
Alia claimed that the state’s past governments had deceived the public and that the federal government had refused to provide them with money for salaries. The governor pledged that paying employees’ salary would remain a top priority for his government.
“From now on, the 22nd of every month will be the payment date for civil servants in the State,” he declared. In addition to pledging to rebuild the Igumale Cement facility and provide access roads in the region, he praised the populace for having faith in him to lead the State. “
I observe that Okpoga is dark; I’ll use 5,000 kw of electricity to brighten it up. “I’ve come to lessen your suffering,” he uttered. President Bola Tinubu has good ideas for Nigerians, thus he asked them to be patient and support his administration.
Former All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate Mr. Daniel Onjeh earlier encouraged the governor to follow through on his campaign pledges to the populace. According to Onjeh, the opposing parties were making fun of the people, telling them that he had abandoned them when it came to appointments and infrastructure.
